“The essence of life is in relationships.” 

Founder Ryan MacDermott frequently recites this line that he heard many times from his highschool headmaster, Bill Burke. It’s a universal truth that guides his life, so when founding his Landscape company, the idea of people was a focal consideration.

Too many times MacDermott recalls hearing people complain about the service they were receiving; “they take forever to respond, or just do not respond at all,” “they do not do what I ask of them, and I tell them every time,” or “I receive a massive bill months after the fact.” MacDermott realized that the standard Landscape company neglects the most important part of business; the people it serves. 

With the founding of the company, there were two things in mind for Ryan; quality and people

“For any company to be successful, they must have a good product or service that people love and are willing to spend money on,” states MacDermott, “they also must have good people performing the service.” He explains how when considering the quality of his firm, there are many nuances that go into achieving the pinnacle of quality that he expects. He utilizes the best quality equipment, operated by the best quality employees, equipped with the highest quality understanding of knowledge the industry has to offer. He strictly applies the highest quality products on the properties he serves, and even seeks to find the highest quality customer. There is a process and standard for everything, and as a result everything associated with the firm is high quality. 

RJM does not view its service as a contractor to client relationship, but rather a collaborative partnership in which both parties mutually work together toward a common goal. The main goal that MacDermott seeks to attain with the establishment of RJM Landscape is in accordance with the quote he learned in highschool- when serving his clients, he seeks to build a lasting relationship with each of them. “When we have a relationship with our clients, we understand their needs and desires, and we are able to better meet their expectations. It’s also more enjoyable to give back to friends.” 

RJM aspires to give back time to homeowners, so that busy parents can have more time with children. They seek to deliver a beautiful yard to older homeowners who are unable to do it themselves. RJM seeks to use their skills in landscaping to serve people and give back to the world in the best way he can. 

The world is a better place when it is filled with connected, loving families. Like everything else, the world is as good as the people it holds. 

So, in its own way, RJM seeks to give back to families with the aspirations that it will build families and in turn make the world a better place.
